Design and Manufacture Project with Coborn Engineering

As part of their Engineering work the Year 13 students have been working with their clients, Coborn Engineering.

Coborn Engineering are manufacturers of Precision Diamond Cutting Machines. The students have been challenged to engineer a solution to improve the operation of a machine by designing an actuator system to increase the automation and reduce the manual tasks involved in operating the machine.

The students have been able to contact the Senior Design Engineer of the company and we have been able to conduct some team Zoom meetings in this last half term to speak directly to the engineer and discuss possible solutions.

These have been a positive way to continue our work with our partner company and has benefitted the students in learning to adapt to a new way of working.
