Year 12 Engineering Project with UCL PEARL

Our Year 12 Engineering Students have been challenged to design and manufacture a range of inclusive seating for the reception area at the new UCL PEARL Research Centre opening in March 2021.

Professor Nick Tyler, Director of the UCL Centre for Transport Studies, visited the school earlier in the term, and presented in our lecture theatre, following social distancing guidelines, the aims of the project and the requirements of the seating. The seating needed to be inclusive and manufactured with sustainability as a factor.

Professor Tyler visited again this month, and led the panel for the students to present their ideas to.

The students’ presentations were excellent and showed a wide range of solutions for the team to consider. Additional thoughts and suggestions were made. All the students will present their physical model solutions to the team from UCL PEARL towards the end of January.
